Science and Research
The scientific research activities of the department in basic research and in collaboration with industry are based on a comprehensive approach to the study of the failure of bodies and structures. This includes physical metallurgical aspects, applications of fracture mechanics, mathematical modeling of stress and deformation fields, research into failure processes in microvolumes, and a probabilistic approach to studying system reliability.
The department includes a fractographic laboratory, which has the status of an authorized testing facility for the Czech aerospace industry and research.
